Club History

Coppull United started out as a few junior teams playing out of a youth club on a local playing field, just off Springfield road. As the junior teams aged and reached the under 18s league it became apparent there was no adult team in Coppull for them to join and continue their football education. Consequently, it was decided by those involved on the founding committee of Coppull United FC - Bert Wilkinson, Rick Naylor, Roy Pheasant, Kevin Houghton , Colin Shaw and John Honor - that they would expand and create a team that would compete at an open age format, starting out  in the Preston District League in the 4th Division.

As Coppull United FC grew over the years the committee worked hard fundraising to secure a long lease at their current home, Blainscough Park. The club house was built and officially opened in 1996 by local Preston North End footballing legend, Sir Tom Finney. In 1998, Coppull United FC joined the West Lancashire Football League where they started off in Division Two. Under the chairmanship of local businessman Bert Wilkinson and the management of Barry Massie, Coppull United achieved back to back promotions in the 2001/02 and the 2002/03 seasons to ply their trade in the West Lancashire Premier Division, where they have stayed ever since.

The club achieved the ultimate dream of chairman Bert Wilkinson, in the 2014/15 season by being crowned Lancashire FA Amateur Shield Champions at the LFA Headquarters beating local rivals Charnock Richard in the 3rd round before eventually conquering West Lancs 1st Division champions CMB from Horwich, Bolton in the final 3-0.

Moving forward to the current day, Coppull United FC currently have two adult teams (first and reserve team) that play their football in the West Lancashire Football League. They have also recently opened their fantastic facilities to other clubs in the community, with Chorley Women FC and Brinscall JFC under 18s also using Blainscough Park as their home pitch. Off the field the Committee continues to grow with the best interests of the club at heart as they try to bring more success to the club both on and off the pitch. The committee is overseen by Chairman Richard Wilson and the 1st team is currently managed by Mark Hine and Stephen Lynch.
