Looking to get back on track after a long layoff and playing in difficult conditions against the wind Coppull started brightly and after an even first 25 minutes Dale Scurr broke clear and forced a good save from the visiting keeper. The visitors responded well and made Coppull work hard to keep the scores level with Phil Dennet, Lee Gelder, Dave Taylor and Tony Hartley working tirelessly to keep the score level. Then just before halftime the visitors forced Gavin King to produce the save of the day tipping the ball over the bar from what looked like a certain goal.
Half Time – Coppull United 0 - 0 Fleetwood Hesketh
Coppull came out of the blocks the quickest and when Lee Gelder broke down the left on 10 minutes avoiding a few lunging attempts to stop him Gelsder striking the ball home to give Coppull the lead. Coppull continued to press forcing the visitors back into their own half with some outstanding possession football resulting in Dale Scurr shrugging off a couple of challenges calmly slipped the ball past an oncoming keeper to make it 2-0 on 22 minutes. After the restart Coppull took control of the game dominating all areas of the pitch and keeping good possession which would have resulted in an improved scoreline except for some good defending and goalkeeping from the visitors.
